Video game publisher Electronic Arts has announced that its Origin digital distribution platform will begin to offer titles from other companies, like Warner Bros. Interactive, Capcom and THQ, starting with the month of November.

Electronic Arts is bragging that the new agreement means that 'top new releases” will be made available on Origin but until now the only clear announcements are linked to Batman: Arkham City, the open world brawler from Rocksteady which arrives on the PC on November 18, and Saints Row: The Third, from Volition, which is also set to launch during the middle of the month.

Greg Ballard, who is the senior vice president for digital games at Warner Bros, stated, “We are very pleased to partner with EA and have Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment's key PC titles available on Origin.”

He added, “In growing our digital offerings for consumers we want to give fans increased access to critically acclaimed titles such as Batman: Arkham City.”

Ever since Origin was officially unveiled Electronic Arts said that it planned to offer video games from third parties on it, although the company was never specific about the companies who will offer them.

It's highly unlikely that the likes of Activision Blizzard, who is competing for the title of biggest publishers with EA, or Valve, who created and operates rival Steam, will ever get their video games on Origin.

At the moment Electronic Arts says that there are more than 6 million gamers who have created an account on the digital distribution service and that they can get about 100 games.

For comparison purposes, Steam has more than 1,800 games available and more than 35 active users.

Since Origin was introduced Electronic Arts and Valve have conducted a number of public spats over the availability of some games but the two have always maintained that competition is good for the industry.
