It's going to be the ultimate battle of the superheroes, and in real life too, as the two biggest comic book franchises go head to head in the box office, with release dates in the same weekend. This is going to be the ultimate test of which superhero has actually the largest number of fans.

Marvel Studios and Disney are declaring all-out war on Warner Bros. by pitching their blockbuster movie “Captain America 3” to open on May 6, 2016, the same day that “Batman vs. Superman” is also set to premiere. The Hollywood Reporter leaked the news of this legendary battle between the biggest comic book-inspired movies in the world today. The “Batman vs. Superman” film was supposed to come out in 2015, but it was pushed back by nearly a year, in order to give enough time to the production team to deliver a solid project.

As it happens, it managed to fall on the same day that Marvel unveils its latest project, “Captain America 3,” the sequel to this year's “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” which is the second part in the series and is set to open next month.

It looks like Marvel and Disney are throwing down the gauntlet and they are not being intimidated by Warner Bros., proving that they have the nerve to premiere their tent-pole project on the same weekend as their opposition's big day.

Ultimately, veterans in the business are saying that there is a high chance the movies won't premiere on the same day and that one of them is going to back down out of this direct confrontation. The question is which of the two is going to be the first to walk away from this challenge.
