Batman bin Suparman is the real name of a Singapore man whose ID picture went viral on the Internet a few years ago.

He became an Internet celebrity because, as you probably guessed, his name translated means “Batman, son of Suparman.”

Some might say that the burden of his name was too big and Batman bin Suparman decided to become a villain. Batman was arrested (you have got to love how that sounds!) and sentenced to three years in jail after being caught on tape stealing $400 (€300) from a store in Singapore.

Batman was also accused and charged with fraud, after stealing and using his brother's ATM card. In addition to theft and fraud, Batman also pleaded guilty to drug consumption. It seems that Batman son of Suparman is the whole villain package, committing enough crimes to let his fans down.

Singapore's Batman even has his own fan page on Facebook called “Batman Bin Suparman Fan Club,” where people from all over the world come to express their discontent and opinions concerning the hero and the fact that he “has fallen to the Dark Side.”

Batman bin Suparman's Facebook page gathered more than 11,000 likes, and after news of his arrest spread, the comments started coming. One reader said, “He's only in jail for training, like at the beginning of Batman Begins,” while another was trying to start a movement: “Our idol has been jailed! Someone break him out of prison!”

While Batman bin Suparman “is on the wrong side of the law,” fans recommend he start “catching up on his comic book reading” and rise to the name's expectations. Having the name of not one but two superheroes puts a lot of pressure on him, especially from his Fan Club that reads “Batman son of Suparman, you were the chosen one.”

The question on everyone's mind right now is “What were his parents thinking when they named him Batman son of Suparman?” Either they had big plans for their son and wanted a name that would reflect that, or they were just joking, without thinking of the consequences.
