The development team working on the new Batman: Arkham Origins says that it wants to increase the mystery surrounding their protagonist by using a number of film noir specific techniques.

Jeremy Price, the art director at the Montreal studio currently working on the game, tells Game Informer in an exclusive interview that the tonal shift towards a mythical approach is required because it fits with the time frame covered.

Gotham City will also become a more important character in Arkham Origins and silhouettes and shadows will be employed to add depth to the game world.

The new Batman video game is set to focus on the origins of the character, a period when the police force was unsure how to tackle the crime fighter with a vigilante streak.

Arkham Origins will be launched in early October on the PC and home consoles.
