Batman: Arkham Origins, the new action and combat title from Warner Bros., has managed to take over the number one position in the United Kingdom video game chart during its first week on sale.

The title is developed by a new team with Rocksteady not involved in any way and uses a prequel structure.

We have a Softpedia review for Batman: Arkham Origins that offers more information on the story it tells and on the mechanics of the title.

Grand Theft Auto V, created by Rockstar and Take Two, continues to perform well more than one month after it was launched and currently sits in second, with much of its longevity linked to its Online mode and the constant stream of new content that was promised.

FIFA 14, the football sim from EA Sports, is in third place, down one position for the week that ended on October 26, according to UKIE.

Fourth place in the United Kingdom chart belongs to Skylanders Swap Force, the mix between real-world figurines and virtual experience created by Activision that now allows gamers to mix and match components.

Pokemon X is in fifth place for the current week, down one position over the previous seven-day period and one place ahead of its Y counterpart, showing how popular the series continues to be.

Seventh place continues to belong to the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft from Mojang, which still gets regular content drops and patches from the developer.

LEGO The Lord of the Rings is in eight place, while Moshi Monsters: Katsuma Unleashed from Mind Candy is a surprise new entry in ninth.

The United Kingdom top ten is closed down by Just Dance 2014 from Ubisoft.

F1 2013 from Codemasters, Beyond: Two Souls from Quantic Dream and Disney Infinity are all out of the chart.
