Most of them have been persuaded by game footage and demos

The team at Warner Bros. Montreal working on Batman: Arkham Origins says that it was initially scared of the reaction that fans had when the game was announced, but have since convinced many of them that the experience will deliver a solid level of quality.

Ben Mattes, the senior producer working on the game, tells Eurogamer that, “Obviously resistance and reluctance exists at every level. There were concerns within the organisation that we weren't going to be able to deliver the special sauce of a Rocksteady game.”

At the same time, the criticism coming from fans, who were fond of the games that original developer Rocksteady previously delivered, made the team a little scared of the project.

They did not want to be remembered as the studio that took over a successful franchise and then launched a game that failed critically and commercially, driving audiences away.

The developer says that they were thinking, “Maybe we've bitten off more than we can chew? Are we sure we're able to dance with these guys? Do we deserve to be in this same hallowed ground?”

The fan community for the Batman video games has been mostly convinced that Arkham Origins will be a good game after the team started showing off character designs and video from the experience.

But Mattes says that there are still some die hard gamers who refuse to pay attention to the release because it is handled by Warner Bros. Montreal, because it offers a prequel narrative and because none of the original voice actors are involved.

Recently, the team has revealed that Killer Croc and Lady Shiva will complete the assassin gallery that the Dark Knight will have to deal with in the game.

Batman: Arkham Origins is out today on the PC, the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and the Wii U.
