Quite a few mechanics were scrapped by the studio because they didn't work

Batman: Arkham Origins, the upcoming prequel from Warner Bros. Montreal, has quite a lot of interesting new systems.

This includes a tweaked combat system, as well as a massive snowstorm that will roam the streets of Gotham.

Previous Batman Arkham games, including Asylum and City, delivered great experiences that focused on The Dark Knight as he battled many of his famous enemies.

Batman: Arkham Origins, however, sees a younger version of the Caped Crusader take on the villains of Gotham in an open world.

A bunch of fresh details have just appeared via the Arkhamverse fansite, with new info being pulled from an issue of GamesMaster magazine.

According to the article, developer Warner Bros. Montreal Arkham wanted each system in Origins to be perfect.

As a result, plenty of mechanics were scrapped because they weren't good enough. These include a dynamic weather system that affected the freeflow combat, like with wind gusts leaving enemies exposed but also weakening Batman's attacks.

Another mechanic was a robot drone that could be deployed by Batman's foes during the Predator missions. This was scrapped because it turned Batman from a scary hunter into a hero who always needed to hide from the drone.

Even so, Batman will be pretty powerful and quite scary, as he'll use the darkness and his brute strength on many occasions.

The game will also have a storm indicator, which warns Batman of incoming wind blasts around the open world, which can be explored without any sort of loading screen.

Character progression has also been overhauled, as the game puts a bigger emphasis on choosing between different skills and gadgets.

Plenty of side missions will be present in the game, some unlocking various new features like the Batwing, while others task Batman with stopping different assassins.

Batman: Arkham Origins is out in October for PC, PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U.
