Sony's E3 press conference has featured a Batman: Arkham Knight demonstrative video, showing the typical mix of crazy action and property damage that the series is famous for, and for the first time, offering a glimpse of the Batmobile in action.

Although Batman's ride starts off looking pretty innocuous, casually driving across Gotham City quickly devolves into something right out of World Of Tanks, as the Batmobile engages some targets in Battle Mode.

The game was initially slated for a fall 2014 release period, but developer Rocksteady has announced a considerable delay for the action adventure title, in order to put more work into delivering the top notch experience that fans of the series are craving.

The developer has released a video showcasing the Batmobile's racing mode as well as the battle mode when the delay announcement has been made, but the entire glory of Batman's vehicle has not been revealed until today.

So, watch the trailer below and bask in the awesomeness that is Batman's sweet ride. Speaking of awesomeness, Sony's video also features Scarecrow, one of the best Batman villains ever, in a very spectacular manner.

At some point, the video and audio start to glitch, seemingly in an attempt to make the E3 fail reel, but then it all extends to the light, and Scarecrow shows up, delivering one of his insane quips.

Speaking of insane, the video also shows the incredible level of visual detail in the upcoming action adventure game, highlighting a Gotham that looks amazing.

In addition to the visual reveal, the video also reveals the way the Batmobile seamlessly blends with the regular gameplay, showing how you can eject from the vehicle to a high altitude and use your cape to glide around the city.

Rocksteady has promised to deliver a full recreation of Gotham City that players will be able to traverse both on foot and while behind the wheel, and it looks like they're intent on keeping their promise.

As the Batmobile makes the first entry in the video game series, many people are questioning whether the driving mechanics will feel as rewarding as in other open-world games that have a clear focus on such interactions.

Developer Rocksteady has revealed that they wanted to take their time and to capture the essence of the Batmobile, in order to deliver the appropriate experience, and not make it feel like just any ordinary car, but like the monstrous juggernaut that it is, and have it work with the rest of the game in a proper manner that is congruent with the Batman universe, no matter how players decide to use it.

Batman: Arkham Knight is currently scheduled to come out on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime in 2015. Until we get a clearer release window for the action adventure title, check out the awesome video below.
