Video game developer Rocksteady and publisher Warner Bros. Interactive are delivering the first official trailer for their upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight, called Father to Son, which sets up the core conflict of the game and teases fans about the gameplay they will be able to enjoy later in the year.

The title is set to arrive on the PlayStation 4 from Sony, the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PC, with material associated with the game suggesting that it will be offered on all of them during October.

Martin Tremblay, the president of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, states in the announcement that, "Batman: Arkham Knight is the pinnacle game of our hugely successful franchise, and we are giving players the most expansive, impressive title in the series. The Rocksteady Studios team is continuing to focus on the excellent gameplay for which they are known while delivering a thrilling new experience for gamers and Batman fans."

In the new Batman: Arkham Knight gamers will have to face the threat posed by the Scarecrow, who is able to unite some of the most powerful villains of the comic book universe, including Penguin, Two-Face and Harley Quinn.

The biggest addition included in the new title is the Batmobile, which uses a unique design coming from Rocksteady and can be driven on the roads of Arkham, giving the Dark Knight more mobility than ever.

It seems that the core gameplay mechanics the studio introduced in Arkham Asylum and then refined in Arkham City will also be present and a number of new enemies and gadgets will be added to add variety to the experience.

Sefton Hill, the game director at Rocksteady Studios, adds, "We’re excited to be developing the game for next-gen platforms, which has allowed us to bring to life the design elements that we envisioned from the beginning such as the Batmobile and how it augments Batman’s abilities, to the fully detailed and realized Gotham City."

The two companies are saying that they will offer more details on Batman: Arkham Knight in the coming weeks in order to make sure that fans of the series understand all the changes that are being made.

Before the launch of the new Batman title gamers will be able to enjoy the final piece of downloadable content for Arkham Origins, called Cold, Cold Heart, which will allow players to battle Mr. Freeze and his unique powers.
