The Arkham Knight will face off against Batman in the new game

Batman: Arkham Knight has just received a new set of screenshots showing off characters from the game as well as the all-new villain developed by Rocksteady, the titular Arkham Knight.

The Batman Arkham titles have delivered some great action adventure experiences over the years, proving that the Caped Crusader can work really well not just in comics or movies, but also in video games.

With Arkham Knight, Rocksteady seems to bring the best experience yet focusing on Batman, who many believed was the Knight referred to in the title, given that he's also known as the Dark Knight.

Now, according to the studio, the Arkham Knight isn't Batman at all, as it's an all-new character developed by Rocksteady in partnership with DC Comics specifically for the new game.

As you can see above, the Arkham Knight is a new villain who uses the Batman persona but in a highly advanced manner and isn't afraid of using a gun, unlike the Caped Crusader.

No other details have been given by Rocksteady, as it doesn't want to spoil the surprise it has prepared for the upcoming game.

Even so, you can enjoy the rest of the screenshots below, via NeoGAF, showing Batman, the Batmobile, or Commissioner Gordon.

Batman: Arkham Knight launches this fall on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
