Batman: Arkham Knight is the biggest video game launch for June, and the teams at developer Rocksteady and publisher Warner Bros. are promoting the title with an official television spot, designed to appeal to those who have loved the movie trilogy based on the same comic book.

The big surprise is that the two companies have chosen to use the Mercy track from the new Muse album, called Drones, in order to underline the emotions that the footage is delivering.

Warner Bros. quotes Matt Bellamy, the leader of the band, as saying that their new release "explores the journey of a human: from abandonment and loss of hope, to indoctrination by the system to be a human drone, to eventual defection from the oppressors."

The Dark Knight himself goes through a similar journey and the song manages to capture some of the brutality and the darkness associated with the series from Rocksteady.

Batman: Arkham Knight will be out on the PC, the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One on June 23.

Gamers will get to move through Gotham using the Batmobile for the first time in the series, and there are new gadgets to use as well as more moves from the combat sequences.

The rogue gallery that Batman will have to face includes well-known faces, which are led by Scarecrow, and the newly created Arkham Knight, who has both the tech and the financial backing to challenge the Dark Knight.

Batman: Arkham Knight will also make Red Hood and Batgirl playable

Rocksteady has already said that this is the last title associated with the franchise that it will work on and the team is really pulling out all the stops in order to keep fans happy.

A special Red Hood downloadable content pack, which is only offered at Gamestop, will allow gamers to use guns during combat and execute more violent finishing moves.

Warner Bros. has also announced an ambitious Season Pass for Batman: Arkham Knight, which will give gamers skins and other smaller tweaks, but will also include a full prequel campaign in which gamers will take control of Batgirl.

The game is designed to offer more variety than any other title in the series, but most gamers will probably evaluate it based on the core story and the combat system.
