Warner Bros. and Rocksteady have just confirmed that their upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight game is now set to appear in 2015, missing its fall 2014 launch period, and have released a special new trailer with the iconic Batmobile alongside a few details about it.

The Batman Arkham games have delivered increasingly bigger experiences over the years, starting with Arkham Asylum and reaching Arkham City and Arkham Origins in recent times.

Now, the franchise's founder, Rocksteady, is busy developing Batman: Arkham Knight, the next entry in the franchise, which promises to deliver a full recreation of Gotham City that can be traversed on foot but also using the new Batmobile, which is present for the first time in the series in the new title.

While the game was set to debut this fall onto PC, PS4, and Xbox One, Warner Bros. and Rocksteady have just revealed that they're now targeting a 2015 release for Batman: Arkham Knight, in order to deliver a quality experience.

At the same time, they've also rolled out a new trailer for the game that focuses on the Batmobile and confirms that it will have two modes. The first is the regular racing mode that allows for fast and easy traversal of Gotham City's streets, and the second is battle mode, in which the Batmobile's wheels extend further to provide better maneuverability in tight situations and an array of weapons pop up to provide the perfect answer to any villain or groups of thugs.

There's a 60mm cannon to penetrate armor, a Vulcan gun with armor-piercing incendiary rounds perfect for anti-tank and surface-to-air combat, a missile barrage capable of targeting 6 enemies at once, and a riot suppressor that can launch non-lethal slam rounds capable of subduing enemies with "minimum long-term trauma."

While talking with Kotaku, Rocksteady's Dax Ginn revealed that making an awesome game needs time and in order for Arkham Knight to meet that criteria, it needs a longer period to get right the feel of being Batman and driving the Batmobile, no matter the mode.

"Now Batman: Arkham Knight is totally awesome," Ginn said. "The thing about awesome, though, is awesome takes time. And totally awesome takes a lot of time. So in collaboration with our colleagues at Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment and DC Comics, we have decided to extend the development time of Batman: Arkham Knight."

"Now, the very simple reason for doing this is to ensure we are delivering the awesome level of quality that Batman fans and gamers expect from this, the final episode and the epic conclusion to the Rocksteady Arkham trilogy. The Dark Knight will face his ultimate challenge in Batman: Arkham Knight now to be released in 2015."

It's unclear when exactly Arkham Knight will debut in 2015, as a lot of titles have already been delayed into the first few months of the new year.
