Batman: Arkham Knight, the next iteration in the prestigious series made by Rocksteady, will introduce a special version of the Batmobile that will be used not just in driving around Gotham City, but also in brand new challenges devised by the Riddler.

Rocksteady and Warner Bros. revealed to the world Batman: Arkham Knight a few weeks ago, confirming that it's a new adventure for the Caped Crusader that brings not just improvements to the combat system but also a much bigger open world that can be traversed using the Batmobile, which has received some serious improvements.

The new vehicle will help Batman in all sorts of situations and, in his classic style, it's filled with various gadgets, such as an ejection system that propels the Dark Knight into the air without having to stop and get out of the car, like regular people.

According to Rocksteady's Dax Ginn, who talked with EGMNow, the studio didn't want just to turn Arkham Knight into a driving game or make the experience feel tacked on.

"We wanted to be very confident and sure that we didn’t add the Batmobile and it suddenly just felt like a driving game or a driving bolt-on. That was something that was really, really important to us," Ginn said. "So, we’ve integrated Batman’s abilities and the Batmobile’s abilities, so that it very much feels like it’s a man and his machine, the integration between the two."

"You can eject out of the Batmobile to gain insane height, and that sort of augmentation of Batman’s gliding ability is the perfect example of how the Batmobile complements Batman’s features. There’s a lot more the Batmobile can do, but the way Batman gets into the Batmobile, gets out of the Batmobile—those things have really been designed to feel very natural and very organic."

What's more, besides driving around Gotham and using the Batmobile to augment Batman's skills and abilities, players will also use it to complete new sets of Riddler challenges, as the infamous villain has devised special circuits that will push the Batmobile and Batman to their limits.

"Driving through Gotham feels incredible, but there’s so much that it can do that the Riddler caves, giving us an opportunity to design puzzles that are specifically there to push the Batmobile to its limits, so we can really give gamers the opportunity to experience the Batmobile in all of its insane facets, not just driving incredibly quickly on the flat. You can drive up walls, drive on the ceilings, but that’s not so easy to do in the open world of the city. But the Riddler circuits can be anything, so that’s where it really starts to get fun and interesting."

Batman: Arkham Knight is set to debut this fall for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, so expect to hear more about the Batmobile soon enough.
