Comic books are a great source of inspiration for many other branches of the entertainment industry. Apart from giving a solid basis to movies or TV shows, now they are offering some great ideas for video games. The most recent project involving super heroes from these graphic novels is Eidos' Batman: Arkham Asylum.

The title, which will be scheduled to appear at the end of this month, on August 28, promises to deliver a great experience featuring Gotham City's Dark Knight. This time, he will be placed against the dreadful asylum in Arkham, where all of his worst enemies are held.

In an effort to build even more hype around the title, the UK-based publisher has just announced that it will be offering a demo for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 at the end of the week, on August 7. This short demo will encompass the first few minutes of the full-fledged game, as Batman and Commissioner Gordon are getting the infamous Joker back into his holding cell at the Arkham asylum. But because this is a video game after all, things go downhill, the criminals from Arkham get released and, of course, are hungry for revenge on the two lawbringers.

During the demo, players will be able to get a taste of the FreeFlow combat system that enables seamless fighting between the famous super hero and his enemies. They will also unlock stealth mechanics and new character bios. PC users are urged by the company to enter the official website of the title in order to find out details about getting the demo version from the Games For Windows service.

Overall, Eidos is pinning a lot of hopes around this game, and, by the looks of it, it will certainly reap a lot of benefits. Hopefully the return of the Dark Knight in gaming will be a great one and fans will be pleased by the new adventures of Batman, who is faced with some of his arch enemies, including The Joker, Poison Ivy or Scarecrow. Until the end of the week though, you can check out this new trailer for the game.
