The case of famous activist Barrett Brown continues. According to reports, his mother – accused of helping Brown hide a laptop from the FBI – has pleaded guilty to the charges brought against her.

The Dallas Observer reports that Karen McCutchin faces a maximum sentence of 12 months in prison and a $100,000 (78,000 EUR) fine, according to her plea agreement.

McCutchin became involved in her son’s case on March 6, 2012, when Brown’s house was raided by the FBI. Since they didn’t find all his computers, agents visited his mother’s house, but without a warrant, hoping that she would give them up voluntarily.

She didn’t, so a few hours later, the FBI came back with a warrant and found what they were looking for.

Brown faces several charges, including threatening an FBI agent, and ones related to the Stratfor hack.
