Cyber security and storage solutions provider Barracuda Networks has launched a new Backup-as-a-Service (BaaS) offering which allows organizations to purchase the Barracuda Backup 190 and 390 solutions as an annual service.

The offering includes a local appliance, a license for the software required to back up and recover data, unlimited cloud storage, and 24/7 email and phone support. Customers are also given access to Cloud LiveBoot for offsite recovery of VMWare servers.

Appliances that are four years old and under a service contract are replaced with a new device of the same model. In case of hardware failure, a replacement unit is shipped the next day.

“Purchasing Backup-as-a-Service is a simple and more cost-effective way for customers to meet their backup needs,” noted Rod Mathews, general manager of Barracuda’s Storage Business.

“The BaaS program provides customers additional flexibility to purchase Barracuda Backup in the way that better suits their needs, from either their operational or capital budgets.”

Pricing for the Backup 190 service starts at $1,199 (€880) per year, and $2,999 (€2,200) for the Backup 390 service.
