The company didn't comment, but anonymous sources say it will definitely happen

After the first Nook “tablet” got advertised as a color e-reader, and then an actual Nook Tablet insisted on keeping as many e-reader features as possible, Barnes & Noble may finally be changing their tune.

The folks at Digital Trends claim that their sources have “confirmed” that a new Nook Tablet will be launched later this month (September 2012). They also said that B&N refused to comment.

If it is true and B&N does have a new slate ready (or two), the price cuts in August may, in fact, have been foreshadowing for this occasion, rather than a preemptive reaction to Amazon's products and Google Nexus 7.

Unfortunately, we don't know what specifications the tablet, or tablets, will have, save for the OS, and even that is speculation: it is believed that the new Nook Tablet will run Windows 8.
