Barnes & Noble seems to prepare a competitor for Amazon's Kindle Fire

Barnes & Noble seems to be planning the release of a new NookColor to compete with Amazon's highly successful 7-inch Kindle Fire tablet.

A series of sources cited by The Digital Reader suggest that the release will happen on November 7, and the company is already preparing a massive Nook boutique for its new creation.

No information about this new eReader/tablet is available at this point in time, so we don't know how this will differ from the original 7-inch Barnes & Noble device.

Most probably it will come with some improved hardware specs, as the old 800Mhz ARM Cortex-A8 processor found inside the NookColor has become slow by today's standards.

It remains to be seen how Barnes & Noble contraption will fare, but it seems to me that it will have a hard time beating Amazon's Kindle Fire since this was received pretty well by the public, with Amazon being forced to build millions more devices to meet the strong pre-orders.
