14 DAY TRIAL // Today, Barnes & Noble, Inc. announced the launch of NOOK for Android, a fun and easy-to-use Barnes & Noble eReading application. According to the company, the new software solution is meant to offer an enhanced eReading experience for all Android users, while being offered for free. Additionally, the new mobile application was designed so as to enable users to easily share eBooks with friends.
Moreover, the new solution is said to be the first eReader software to feature Barnes & Noble’s new NOOK-centric branding. The new NOOK for Android application should soon be followed by an updated NOOK for iPhone, NOOK for iPad, and other software solutions within the next few months. The new eReader software branding is in line with the company's NOOK 3G and NOOK Wi-Fi eBook Readers products offering.
“NOOK for Android offers those with devices using Android OS 1.6 and higher the ability to shop Barnes & Noble’s expansive eBookstore of more than one million eBooks, including new releases, bestsellers and free classics, and download titles in seconds. Any customer’s personal Barnes & Noble eBook library – purchased on a NOOK eBook Reader, online at BN.com or on another BN eReader-enabled device – will easily sync to their device in seconds so their library goes wherever they go,” the company announced.
NOOK for Android is expected to offer an enhanced eReading experience, which would include text customization features, an easy-to-use navigation bar, graphical page turns, and more. Not to mention that this would be the first Android eReader application to include digital lending. According to the company, one of the features that should appeal a lot to users would be the LendMe technology, through which one can share eligible eBooks for up to 14 days with friends owning a NOOK eBook Reader, iPad, iPhone, iPod touch or a PC compatible with free BN eReader software.
