Expect a new Nook Color reader to take on the Kindle Fire

The rumors that have been spreading around last week regarding the release of a new Nook Color version on November 7 seem to be confirmed now by Barnes & Noble itself, which has started to send out invitations for a Nook event that will be held on that date.

The invitation received by All Things D doesn't have the eReader mentioned anywhere, but it does feature the Nook logo featured prominently, which pretty much comes to confirm our previous report.

Furthermore, the original Nook Color is now over a year old and it features some pretty old hardware (an 800Mhz ARM Cortex-A8 processor tops things off) in comparison with more recent devices, like Amazon's recently unveiled Kindle Fire.

Sadly, specs are still uncertain at this point, but expect a color touchscreen and an Android OS if Barnes & Noble is really serious about competing with Amazon.
