Remember the homeless man who received a pair of leather boots from a NY police officer this winter?

The NY Post relays a photo of him counting his earnings on the subway after a hard day of begging in the street this Sunday.

As we wrote at the time, Jeffrey Hillman is not actually homeless. He has an apartment and it turns out that Bedminster priest John Graf pays his bills.

Graf tells reporters that Hillman owns about 30 pairs of shoes, but still resorts to beggary as a source of income.

“He’s done it 10-plus years. He can make 1,000 bucks (€780) a day,” he says.

Hillman has admitted that not wearing any shoes is a choice for him, from which one can conclude that he doesn't wish it to affect his source of livelihood.
