Towards the end of last week, on Thursday, police officers in the city of San Bernardino in California, US, were shocked to find that everybody's favorite doll had embraced a fairly bizarre career. In a nutshell, they found evidence of Barbie's drug smuggling activities.

Media reports on the matter at hand tell us that, on Thursday, authorities in said part of the US came across a whopping 10,000 pounds (about 4,536 kilograms) of weed hidden inside a tractor trailer stationed at a local depot.

The officers in charge of seeing this case through explain that, according to preliminary investigations, the market value of the weed recovered from inside this tractor trailer in San Bernardino revolves around $5 million (€3.7 million).

For the time being, authorities in this city cannot say for sure how the 10,000 pounds of cannabis ended up inside this vehicle. What's more, they are yet to figure out whether or not San Bernardino was the marijuana's least stop.

“[Officers] were working an investigation that led them to this truck depot. They found a truck that looked suspicious and located the 10,000 pounds of marijuana. Indications are that it was not grown within the United States,” said Lieutenant Travis Walker.

“It appears the truck was dropped here. Whether this was the final destination is unknown. Although marijuana is legal in the state, the illegal sale of marijuana creates additional safety concerns for police and the community,” he added, as cited by Daily Mail.

For those who only clicked on this piece of news because they love reading stories about Barbie, here is what the doll's connection to this case is: the weed was found hidden inside what appeared to be boxes of Barbie Sisters Camper toys.

What's more, it appears that, of the boxes recovered from the tractor trailer, some were decoy ones. Thus, they contained actual Barbie toys, and were placed right in front of the boxes containing marijuana, most likely in order to protect them against curious gazes.

No arrests have thus far been made in connection to this case. The good news is that authorities in the city of San Bernardino in California, US, are already investigating several leads and are looking to interrogate several potential culprits.

To make sure that no harm will come to them while this investigation is ongoing, the 10,000 pounds of marijuana were taken to a police-operated warehouse. Until now, the exact location of the cannabis has not been revealed to the general public.
