Barbara Walters was supposed to cover the Presidential Inauguration 2013 but an accident that resulted in a head injury sent her right to the hospital before the public ceremony. She’s better now, in case you were worried.

The 83-year-old television veteran asked good friend Whoopi Goldberg to read a statement from her on the latest show on The View, to thank all those who had kept her in their prayers.

Video is below, embedded at the end of this blog post.

“First and foremost, to all the people who have called, written and been concerned about me, I’m most appreciative,” Barbara wrote.

“I’m running a low-grade fever and the doctors are keeping me in the hospital until my temperature is normal. I’m pleased that it is going in the right direction and I will be home soon,” she added.

As Whoopi also explains, Barbara missed a step, fell and hit her head on the stairs at an Inauguration party over the weekend.
