The President and the First Lady of the United States opened the Commander-in-Chief Inaugural Ball, held at the Washington Convention Center last night, with a gorgeous dance to music by the always impeccable Jennifer Hudson.

Above is the video.

Hudson, who was once a competitor on American Idol but has since achieved fame as both actress and singer, covered Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together.”

As always, the First Lady wowed with her fashion choice: a red chiffon, dramatic gown by designer Jason Wu, who had also created her dress for the first Inauguration ball.

Mr. and Mrs. Obama chatted throughout the dance, kissed and hugged, and even sang along with Hudson at one point, before switching partners.

As for Jennifer, she’s always beyond reproach – and she was the same last night.
