Animal rights activists working with and supporting PETA were really angry to hear that a bar in Texas serves so-called live fish shots, and are now asking that the practice be immediately put an end to.

“Hoping to draw in customers, Redneck Heaven Restaurant & Bar in Texas, with locations in Lewisville, Forth Worth, and Arlington, reportedly offers a drink called the ‘Minnow Bomb,’ which is made by forcing live fish into shot glasses filled with liquor for customers to swallow,” PETA says.

The organization argues that, first off, people who drink these shots risk contracting several parasites and diseases such as salmonella.

Besides, the activists say that fish are “complex beings” that do not deserve to be treated in this inhumane manner.

As they put it, “Being roughly handled, immersed in alcohol, and consumed alive is an undoubtedly horrific ordeal for these defenseless creatures who have no means of escape.”

PETA asks that those who want to voice their complaints about how this bar treats fish send personalized messages to its owners.

People who want to help need only head over to the organization's website to see where they can send their comments.
