Eager to seduce its fans with a classy line of new portable music players, the giant Bang & Olufsen has debuted a $600 MP3 player, a device priced far high above other competing products.
Regarding the new series, the
company claims it features a "very clear and pure CD sound quality, due to its high performance on signal to noise playback", compared to competing products.
However, the new player - eventually dubbed BeoSound 6 - boasts 40 hours of continuous playback. The portable media player includes an elegant stainless steel frame and features a black soft-touch glossy surface and a black scratch-resistant glass display, which adds not only more charm to the device, but also important bucks to the price tag. The display comes with a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels. In the same package, the manufacturers have also included a slim fit leather case.
Besides the BeoSound 6, Bang & Olufsen have introduced the EarSet 2 headset wireless design. The Bluetooth headset features two omni-directional microphones, placed 30 millimeters apart. There is also a closed cabinet and a miniature speaker unit.
It has to be a special item like most of the ones on the company's portfolio, therefore, the unit is supported by air vents and a bass port. The headset carries a price of about $350.
Moreover, Electronista reports the new series includes also a new BeoCom 4 handset and base combination. The system was ingeniously divided into two halves that come in black, blue, and beige. It looks great, but also features a caller ID and call waiting functionality. The price is also said to be around $350.
And last but not least, B&O is offering the BeoLab 4, which is a self-amplified loudspeaker. The novelty is this system was designed for attachment to desktop of both Macs and PCs. It measures 8 inches high and 9 inches wide, it uses a normal mini-jack plug and its speakers is available in red, blue and black for about $1000 a piece. Wow!
