BancorpSouth, Inc. officials have announced the release of BancorpSouth Mobile Banking for iPhone and iPod touch, the company’s own branded banking app. Customers can pay bills, view account balances, make transfers, and more, using the new Mobile Banking app, and benefit from convenience and security, according to BancorpSouth.

Touting itself as being a $13.2 billion-asset financial holding company that operates in approximately 314 banking and insurance locations across the US, BancorpSouth reveals in a June 17 report that Apple ID holders can immediately visit the iTunes App Store, search for the new Mobile Banking App for an iPhone or iPod touch by entering “BancorpSouth” in the search field, and download the free software on the spot.

To make it easier for interested parties, Softpedia will provide a more convenient method of downloading BancorpSouth Mobile Banking via the link below. The app is compatible not only with the iPhone and iPod touch, but also with the iPad, and requires iOS 2.2 or later.

According to the BancorpSouth report, the Bank uses the label "BXS Bank" underneath the familiar BancorpSouth Gumtree logo as the App button. BXS is the symbol used for BancorpSouth on the New York Stock Exchange, BancorpSouth says, and proceeds with listing some of the key benefits offered by this service:

- A "Consumer Wallet," which consolidates BancorpSouth services into a single application. - Bill Pay integration, which allows customers to pay bills while they are away. - Security for the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol to ensure transactions are encrypted and protected. - Subscriber-only PIN to unlock the mobile device.

"As with previously released mobile banking versions that are available for a wide variety of mobile phones and carriers, BancorpSouth provides clients with a simple way to access account information any time of the day or night, seven days a week," Michael Lindsey, BancorpSouth senior vice president and head of Retail Banking, said. "This new service targets many of the bank's existing clients. It is another example of BancorpSouth's commitment to providing high-quality services through leading-edge technology. Our goal is to continue to offer our clients what they need in a format that is right for them," Lindsey added.
