These sun care products can make people catch fire, specialists say

Only yesterday, Energizer Holding Inc. and the US Food and Drug Administration made it public news that several Banana Boat sun care products were to be taken off the shelves of supermarkets and stores across the country.

As peculiar as it may sound, it seems that the main drive behind these products being recalled is the fact that some of the people who use them can literally catch fire after applying them on their skin.

Specialists explain that these sun care products are meant to be sprayed on by people who wish to keep their skin safe and smooth.

However, because something is off with the spray valve, the products dispense a tad too much sunscreen, which naturally takes longer to dry.

Because of this, people who approach either flames or just sparks shortly after applying the product on their skin could witness their bodies igniting.

Apparently, as many as 5 cases of skin burns associated with the use of these sunscreens have been reported thus far.

In spite of this recall, Energizer Holdings Inc. hopes that these sun care products will once again be made available on the market once this problem is dealt with.

A complete list of the products targeted by this recall is made available by My Healthy News Daily.

The sun care products targeted by this recall began being distributed across in US in January 2010 and went on being sold by wholesalers and retailers until September 30, 2012.

Commenting on their decision to voluntarily ask for the withdrawal of these sunscreens, company representatives have argued that their main focus was on public health and on the customers' wellbeing, and not on profits.

For the time being, American citizens are asked to check whether or not the Banana Boat products they purchased at one point in the past are listed under this recall.

If that is the case, they are advised to quit using them, or at least make sure they are not smoking or coming close to fire whilst and soon after applying them on their skin.
