It's safe to say that the European Union Antitrust Commission is having its way with Microsoft. When it comes to Windows Vista anyway. And while Ballmer isn't more than happy to play along, he does
play along, and so does Microsoft. Consequently, the Redmond Company will introduce a number of changes in its upcoming operating system in order to satisfy the EU Commission. Microsoft's CEO stated that the Vista modifications were designed to put EU's concerns at ease.

"Today, Seattle time" is the deadline revealed by Ballmer while in Rome in relation to the delivery of data to the security industry, because not only will the EU be satisfied by the changes to Vista, but the security community with Symantec and McAfee at its lead will directly benefit from the alterations of Microsoft's operating system.

And both Symantec and McAfee have only stopped short of accusing the Redmond Company of monopolistic practices having been locked out of Vista's core. Microsoft, along with anyone that stood by its side, were accused of sharing a limited view on security. "Today, Seattle time", means yesterday, as Ballmer's statement was given on Monday.

As of now, neither Symantec, nor McAfee have issued official comments in response to Ballmer's announcement. The EU Commission has also failed to make public its satisfaction level.
