Microsoft doesn’t provide any new details on the sales performance on Windows 8, but Steve Ballmer uses every occasion to talk about the terrific success the new operating system is experiencing these days.

The company’s CEO talked about Chicago’s tech opportunity at the Merchandise Mart in the Windy City, but he also said a few words about the company’s new Windows 8, calling it “Microsoft’s latest success.”

According to a report by Chicago Sun-Times, Ballmer outlined Microsoft’s efforts in cloud computing and data visualization, while also saying loud and clear that both Windows 8 and the Windows Store are successful products.

While he hasn’t said anything relevant to prove his point, Ballmer reiterated some of his old statements, indicating that Microsoft sold 60 million Windows 8 licenses in just two months, while the number of apps in the Store is four times bigger than at launch.

In the meantime, market researches demonstrate that Windows 8 still suffers from a long-time disappointing uptake, so the new operating system has recorded just a slight share increase in February.
