The remake of Baldur’s Gate is set to arrive during the summer, with a number of new quests for players to enjoy and some new characters, and the development studio working on the game has offered details on other changes that will be made to the experience in order to accommodate the added content.

Speaking on Twitter, which seems to be rapidly becoming the favorite communication tool for the team working on the remake, Trent Oster, who is leading the Beamdog team, stated that, “Our plan is to raise the level cap a bit in to allow for the new content. We won’t be changing the game to more than six characters, the entire game would have to be re-balanced. Fun is partly the compromises.”

The development team has also begun looking into the possibility of localizing the upcoming remake for German, French and Spanish speakers, and if demand from gamers is high enough, they might even create a boxed version for those who are interested in having an actual retail product on their shelf.

Oster answered a fan question about a possible move to the current home consoles by saying, “I can’t ever see us doing an Xbox version. The controller isn’t a good fit. Have to change too much.”

The Beamdog boss also told fans that he has no plans to work with Nintendo again, even if the Wii U touch controller might seem a good fit, because of the experience they had last year when they launched the remake for MDK 2 on their current home console.

The remake for Baldur’s Gate is expected on the PC, the Mac and iOS powered devices, and the team has already stated that their long term plan is to create an actual sequel set in the same universe, which might be funded via Kickstarter as long as there’s real interest from the player base.
