A new antivirus solution has been released recently, from Chinese search giant Baidu. The product is free of charge and combines multiple detection engines in order to increase efficiency and accuracy.

Baidu Antivirus 2013 relies on its proprietary detection engine but also uses code licensed from Avira. Moreover, it uses cloud technology (Baidu Cloud Security Engine) for a smaller impact on system resources.

The developer promises that the application will always be provided free of charge and touts compatibility with 10 mainstream security products, which means you can run it side by side with other antivirus products. However, at the moment there are no further details about compatibility with other security suites.

At the moment, Baidu Antivirus 2013 is in beta stage of development and works on all Windows versions XP through Windows 8, both 32-bit and 64-bit platforms.
