In the United Kingdom

As expected, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 from developer DICE and publisher Electronic Arts has taken over the top position of the United Kingdom videogame chart. The new first person shooter starring the capable yet humorous cast of the B Company has managed to win over reviewers with its well developed multiplayer component and destruction riddled single player narrative.

Incredibly, Just Dance, the casual Nintendo Wii title from Ubisoft, has managed to win back the second position that it lost to Aliens vs. Predator last week, pushing Rebellion and SEGA’s three-way shooter to third position in the chart.

Last week's number one videogame, Heavy Rain from Quantic Dream and Sony, has slipped down to fourth place, showing that the success of cinematic videogames built around generating feeling in the player is rather fleeting. Sonic & Sega All Star Racing from SEGA has managed to climb three places to fifth in the chart, with the time proven Mario Kart like formula reinvigorated by the use of another cast of characters.

Wii Fit Plus has tumbled down two places, reaching sixth, followed by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, from Activision and the recently leadership decapitated Infinity Ward, now at number seven and seems to be heading for an exit out of the top ten. Wii Sports Resort managed to hold on to eighth place, also losing two, with FIFA 10 climbing one place to nine.

New Super Mario Bros. for the Wii is closing the top ten, losing three places since last week. BioShock 2, the return to Rapture engineered by 2K Games, has gone from nine to eleven. Assassin's Creed II from Ubisoft has reentered the top twenty on the release of its DRM-heavy PC version, while Napoleon: Total War has landed in the last place in the top twenty after debuting at twelve.
