Backyard Basketball 2007 is a basket ball game which is aimed at kids and that was released for a wide array of platforms, like the Game Boy Advance, the PlayStation 2, the GameCube and the PC.
The developers are Humongous Entertainment and the publishers of the series are Atari.
The game offers a fresh and a not so serious take on the basketball simulation games. All the players in the game are kids, but now we have older and a bit cooler kids than in the previous games. There are both NBA and WNBA likenesses in the game. Not all the characters that are in the game are replicas of real players but, if you look closely enough, you can have fun by identifying some of the most notable ones.
As a player of the game, you have the option to create an avatar of yourself, a player that has various stats and skills, or you can use only the characters provided by the game. You can also draft a team, you can set a strategy for the team and pick their colors. You can then go out and play a full season, filled with playoffs.
The game does not take itself very seriously, just like all the other games that Atari has created with the Backyard moniker attached to them. But it can offer some interesting gameplay challenges, along with a few hours of good fun. Just don't forget that, even if kids can do some of the most outrageous moves in this game, it does not mean that you need to go out and try to perform them yourself.
