Clonezilla Live, a Linux distribution based on DRBL, Partclone, and udpcast that allows users to do bare metal backup and recovery, is now at version 2.2.3-17 and is ready for testing.

The Clonezilla team released a new development version for their Linux distro with just a small update for the Debian base and a couple of changes.

“The underlying GNU/Linux operating system was upgraded. This release is based on the Debian Sid repository, as of June 2, 2014,” reads the official announcement.

Clonezilla developers update the Linux kernel from time to time, but it looks like we will have to wait for that particular upgrade. According to the changelog, cnvt-ocs-dev is now able to convert the SD device, and the ocs-live-run-menu has been improved and is now able run the ocs_live_run variable.

Clonezilla Live is a Linux distribution that does only one thing: bare metal backup and recovery. It's very similar to other, older pieces of cloning software, such as True Image or Norton Ghost.

A complete list of changes, improvements, and fixes can be found in the official announcement. You can download Clonezilla Live 2.2.3-17 right now from Softpedia.

Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
