Clonezilla Live 2.2.2-26, a Linux distribution based on DRBL, Partclone, and udpcast that allows users to do bare metal backup and recovery, has been made available for testing.

Clonezilla Live is a Linux distribution that does only one thing: bare metal backup and recovery. It's very similar to other older cloning software, such as True Image or Norton Ghost.

This is a somewhat larger update than what we are used to and the developer have made some pretty big modifications. The underlying GNU/Linux operating system has been updated and is now based on the Debian Sid repository (as of 2014/Mar/18).

Also, the Syslinux package has been updated to version 6.03-pre9, two new options have been added to makeboot.sh, -L and -U, the function parse_cmdline_option has been improved, a boot parameter "ocs_prompt_mode" has been added, and the image creating time will be shown in the prompt before restoring an image. This last improvement will be very appreciated by the community.

A complete list of changes, improvements, and fixes can be found in the official announcement. You can download Clonezilla Live 2.2.2-26 right now from Softpedia.

Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
