Say you need some extra storage space and you're already considering the purchase of one of those external HDD solutions. In that case, you should know that there are several manufactures that can provide you with such a product. In all fairness, there are so many external hard drives available on the market, that you're bound to get one that meets all your requirements to the letter. However, if nothing else works for you, maybe SimpleTech's [re]drive is what you have been looking for.

In that case, you must be one of those users that are always on the lookout for eco-friendly products. And this is precisely what this thing is all about - a stylish design and a number of eco-friendly features that make the [re]drive quite a unique product. The HDD itself will provide you with no less than 500GB of storage space, which should be enough for you to store an impressive number of media files and data.

The external casing is made of "renewable, naturally grown bamboo and recyclable aluminum." According to SimpleTech, the combination of these two materials can provide users with a unique design that is also extremely efficient when it comes to keeping the drive cool, eliminating the need for noisy fans. The drive is powered by an Energy Star power adapter, which is the last of the series of eco-friendly features this solution comes equipped with.

The technical specifications of the [re]drive are pretty decent, as it can be coupled to a PC via USB, helping you backup your data using the award-winning Fabrik backup software, which includes 2GB of free online backup. The company has also announced that a Turbo USB 2.0 support will be made available soon, offering up to 25% faster (compared with USB 2.0 standard) data transfers.

Overall, the new [re]drive seems to be one of those devices that can provide users with a stylish design and a relatively significant number of features, while also being as "green" as it gets.
