Brian Littrell of the Backstreet Boys has officially become the latest celebrity to come down with the Swine Flu. Littrell became sick as the band returned to the US after a visit to Tokyo, the Us Magazine informs, but, luckily enough, the other members of the pop group are OK and show no symptoms of having contacted the virus. Some of the upcoming appearances of the Backstreet Boys have been canceled because of the latest development.

As per Us Magazine, which reportedly managed to make contact with Littrell’s management, the other members of the Backstreet Boys have already been seen by a doctor and cleared for the Swine Flu. As for Littrell himself, he’s been put on Tamiflu and in isolation, his rep says for the US tabloid, but this also means some of the appearances the BSB were scheduled to make have been canceled. They will presumably be rescheduled for a later date.

“The other three members – Nick Carter, Howie Dorough and AJ McLean – have seen a doctor and are not showing any symptoms. As a preventative measure, the band’s doctor has prescribed Tamiflu to the group and their touring party, who had just returned to the states from Tokyo. Due to Littrell’s illness, the Backstreet Boys cancelled their scheduled Monday appearance at the Pinktober Hard Rock Cafe signing in New York City. They will also cancel their performance on CBS’ Early Show Tuesday morning. (The rest of their schedule this week has not yet been determined.)” Us Magazine informs.

“We were really looking forward to spending time with our closest fans and friends in NYC and take part of Pinktober, an unbelievable and important program. I hope we can come back soon and do everything we can to help.” Littrell also says for the same publication in a statement. An announcement from BSB is expected to follow soon, announcing either further cancellations or the rescheduled dates.

Ironically enough, as Us Magazine also points out, the news of Littrell’s condition came just one day before the release of the new Backstreet Boys album, “This Is Us,” which goes on sale today.
