Trivial Technology, a developer of several card and board games for iPhone and iPod touch, has announced the release of Backgammon Lite 1.5.0. OS 3.0-tested, Backgammon Lite is likely the best backgammon game in the App Store, now with multiplayer support, including Peer to Peer integration.

“Play with your friends on the phone or over Bluetooth! Stay tuned for version 2.0, which will bring a brand new look as well as a host of new features,” Trivial Technology proudly announces. The game also improves on the AI front, the company claims.

“Help us improve our AI further! Notice flaws in the AI's strategies, the phone making bad moves? Let us know! Write us at [email protected] and we'll take your suggestions into account as we work on improving our AI to make it the best it can be,” Trivial Technology adds.

Prior to Backgammon Lite 1.5.0, only the Premium version of the app offered multiplayer support. However, Backgammon Premium remains the only version whose interface is not plagued by ads. But, hey, if you’re not bothered by the small, animated strip of pixels signed Admob, Lite is the way to go. The main features of Backgammon Lite now include:

- Single Player games; - Multiplayer games over Bluetooth and Peer to Peer (P2P); - Optionally plays sound effects during game play; - Three levels of difficulty: Easy, Medium and Hard; - Game statistics, including dice rolls; - Play as either Black or White Tokens; - Indicates current Pip count for each player; - Doubling support; - Two new game types: Regular and Maximum 5 (limits each point to five tokens).

Backgammon Lite is OS 3.0-tested and requires an iPhone or iPod touch running 2.2.1 Software Update or later. The Premium version will set you back just $0.99.
