There was a time when all children had to play with was a stick or maybe a ball, be it a slightly deflated one. But not anymore. There's an army of toys marching towards parents, and some of them are positively bizarre, maybe even a tad disturbing.

This pink box holds UK-based artist Darren Cullen's pregnant doll. The toy, cleverly called “Baby's first Baby”, includes a pregnant baby, a fetus, spare diapers, milk bottles and warm towels.

“Baby's baby is pregnant too!” boasts the tagline on the box in which the doll comes in. “The fun never stops!,” one can also read on the wrapping.

True, children do have this habit of asking where babies come from, but it's doubtful that presenting them with such a doll is the best way to clear this life mystery for them.

For more realism, the doll has stretch marks, and, believe it or not, its water actually breaks. Cravings were added to the list of features, Gizmodo describes. Because, you know, realistic toys are the one thing children desire above all else.

For the same price, you can get double the fun with pregnant twins, “each pregnant with their very own set of pregnant twins.”

Interestingly, Darren Cullen says the dolls are not actually intended to teach children the joys of motherhood. The artist meant this as a social commentary, trying to raise awareness about teen pregnancies and what being pregnant really entails.
