A man opening up a bag of mulch five weeks ago found an adorable baby squirrel inside, still pretty much alive.

The animal was looking a little under the weather, as you can see in the photo posted above, but he took the time to nurse it back to life.

Redditor Nadtacular took it in when it was still smaller than the palm of his hand and went on to upload shots of the squirrel as it grew a bit.

His post includes a series of photographs of the squirrel, showing it grow in size, start to eat well and open its eyes.

It took four to five weeks for it to develop and start to feel better, during which time people tuned it to watch it on Reddit, up voting the post 67,368 times so far.

"Fully aware and getting playful!" the caption of its latest shot reads.
