Last year, on December 27, Perth Zoo in Western Australia welcomed four Asian small-clawed otters. The pups are two males and two females, and vets who have had the chance to take a close look at them say that they are all healthy and active.

According to Zoo Borns, the baby otters currently weight somewhere between 1.14 pounds (520 grams) and 1.23 pounds (560 grams).

However, their caretakers say that, once they reach adulthood, they will probably tip the scale at around 8 pounds (roughly 3.5 kilograms).

The same source tells us that, now that they are strong and confident enough, the pups are finally venturing inside the pool in their enclosure.

Granted, their parents must still monitor their every move, but it is only a matter of time before the baby otters go for their first unaccompanied swim.

The pups have only recently made their public debut and, not at all surprisingly given their adorable faces, visitors to the zoo seem unable to get enough of them.
