The Lemur Conservation Foundation in Florida, US, is now home to a baby mongoose lemur that was born at this facility earlier this year and that is just now building confidence to go about exploring the world around it.

Zoo Borns tells us that the young mongoose lemur, a picture of which is available above, was born back in April to mother Kikeli and dad Felix.

The tiny creature has one older brother named Silvio, and the entire family lives together in just one enclosure, the same source details.

Because it is still very young, the baby mongoose lemur spends most of its time holding on to its mother's body and expecting Kikeli to carry it around.

However, it does occasionally reach out to brother Silvio and dad Felix. The only trouble is that Kikeli is so protective of its offspring that it will only let it interact with its brother and dad only for a short while.

Presently, the International Union for Conservation of Nature considers mongoose lemurs to be a critically endangered species. Thus, very few such animals are left in the wild.

Hoping to help save this species from falling off the biodiversity map sometime in the not-so-distant future, conservationists are now doing their best to breed mongoose lemurs in captivity.
