While visiting Zimbabwe's Hwange National Park, photographer Ken Watkins from Greyton, South Africa got to witness a most endearing incident: a baby elephant got stuck in the mud while enjoying a bath, and had to be rescued by its mom.

Luckily for us, Ken Watkins caught the event on camera, and was willing to share the photos.

As shown in the picture above, the elephant calf was having trouble getting its body out of the water and onto dry land.

To help it free itself from the mud, the elephant mom had to use its powerful trunk like a crane.

“Small elephants sometimes slip into the water in the national park, and this one couldn't get out. I was worried about the calf and it took the mother two minutes to pull the stranded baby out of the water,” the 64-year-old photographer commented on this incident.

According to Daily Mail, the three-month-old baby elephant walked away from the watering hole as soon as its mom put it down. Odds are it will try to be more careful the next time it takes a bath.
