After various celebrities such as Paul McCartney and Pamela Anderson, together with countless ordinary folks asked that Sunder, a baby elephant held captive and abused in an Indian temple, be set free as soon as possible, it seems that this animal is to soon be taken away from its abusers and sent to a wildlife sanctuary.

Apparently, Indian high officials agreed to issue an order stating that Sunder is to be released from its chains as soon as possible, and taken to a place where he can spend its life without having anyone beat it on a regular basis.

Given the fact that we closely followed Sunder's story, this comes as good news indeed, more so since elephants are an endangered species and each one of them is highly important for preserving our planet's biodiversity.
