A 21-year-old woman from New Jersey has given birth on her front lawn last week. The peculiar thing about her pregnancy was that she never knew she was expecting.

Elizabeth Whitehead had her child in front of her home in Barnegat Township, New Jersey. She was complaining from a pain in her abdomen, but she had no idea that she would give birth to a child.

On Tuesday, June 25, the ache became acute. She lied down on the lawn and, before she knew it, she was giving birth to her son. His head started to pop out as she was sitting down.

"It all happened on the grass. [...] His head was out when I was on the grass," she remembers.

According to the Lacey Patch, the child was born prematurely and initially had trouble breathing. Her son weighed only 2.5 pounds (1.13 kg), doctors say.

Whitehead's boyfriend, David Windham was with her and the watched the scene go down. While he was as surprised when his son was born, he tried to help him breathe.

He was not able to do so and called 911 as soon as he was born. Windham and Whitehead already have a nine-month old baby boy.

Police officers Vinnie Damiano and Michael Moore responded to the 911 call and gave the baby CPR, until getting him breathing again.

"Once I heard a little bit of the cry, it kind of made me jump a little bit," Moore explains.

The baby is currently healthy and in stable condition, reports say. The young mother described that she had no idea that she was expecting. She had taken numerous pregnancy tests that came back negative.

"Can't say that I noticed that she was pregnant. [...] She carries well," a neighbor adds.
