Staff at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo are happy to announce that the facility is now home to a baby giant anteater.

According to Zoo Borns, the tiny creature was born on November 25, and it now weighs about 2 pounds (nearly 1 kilogram).

Its mother, Pica, never lets it out of its sight. Dad Kutter, on the other hand, has not taken a keen interest in helping raise the new member of the family.

For the time being, the baby anteater spends almost all of its time chilling on its mother's back. Apparently, it will be several weeks before it decides to let go and explore the world on its own.

Because the baby anteater is still very young, keepers and vets have decided not to get too close to it, and instead allow it to spend some time bonding with its mom.

Hence, they are unable to say whether it is a boy or a girl.
