Babies, Gossip and Bright Red Lipstick

It's been a week since Nicole Richie and Christina Aguillera gave birth, and here come the inevitable "blow by blow" accounts of what happened while these two ladies were having their babies – reportedly just two doors apart in the maternity ward at Cedars-Sinai. As we all know by now, Nicole has a baby girl and Christina has a baby boy, and since we're sure they're all safely healthy and happy (probably starting to go mad from all the non-stop crying) we can enjoy some of the stories that are flying around, since it's just nice, positive things and no dramatic rumors. OK, maybe the part about Nicole and her fiancée being on the verge of a break-up right before baby Harlow was born is a bit scary, but only a bit, since the story does have a happy end after all, with Joel Madden and fresh mommy Nicole being all sugar, spice and everything nice once their bundle of joy was delivered.

A lot of funny details have been revealed about the circumstances surrounding Christina and Nicole's babies, and a few interesting facts that come to contradict what has been said so far. Star magazine has the scoop, and boy, they sure seem to know a lot of details! They reveal that Christina did not have a scheduled C-section, as it had been repeatedly claimed before, but that the singer was in labor for almost a whole day before the doctor was forced to recommend doing the surgery. "Her water broke on Friday [01.11] and she started having contractions. But then they stopped, so she was given a dose of Pitocin, which is supposed to increase the strength of contractions. But Christina never dilated beyond four centimeters. She really wasn’t left with an option" explains a source quoted by Star.

Also, Christina didn't allow a small thing like giving birth part her from her famous heavy make-up and trademark red lipstick, as she arrived at the hospital in full hair and make-up. Um, that sounds a little strange to me but in the end, maybe it was just something meant to reassure her and make her feel more self-confident. I believe that after 24 hours of pushing her make-up may have looked a little less than perfect, but who knows. And finally Nicole is said to have sent a note to Christina while they were both giving birth. No word on what the note said, yet, but I'm sure that will emerge too. Just give it another week. The fact is, I think that the whole world is so relieved these two ladies finally have their babies home with them that we're all keen to know all the details of what went on.
