Babelingo, Alta Vida's language translation utility for iPhone and iPod touch, has been updated to version 1.1. The useful app, which contains more than 300 helpful phrases and words, and acts as a phrase book communicator, now supports Hindi, Czech, search for Hindi phrases using the English keyboard and phonetics, and more. Some performance tweaks have also been made.

Babelingo can translate to and from 7 different languages, including English, Spanish, Italian, French, German, Japanese and Chinese. Highly skilled professional translators translate each phrase, which is displayed in a large, beautifully rendered script that can be easily read from a distance.

Each category, phrase, word, and screen can be presented in any one of the supported languages, while the users choose their native language and the alternative audience’s language, letting Babelingo take over from there. By simply tapping a phrase, Babelingo immediately displays the translation, while phrases are grouped by category in a flat list for fast navigation.

Users may even add commonly used phrases to a favorites list for swift and easy access. A quick search feature, which uses keywords, is available. The app also provides a two-way communication method by allowing the alternate party to navigate Babelingo in their own language and respond to requests.

Features include: over 300 useful phrases and words; each and every phrase is carefully translated by highly skilled professional translators; 25 different categories; large and beautifully rendered translations; native language responses; phrase search; favorites list; no network connection required.

Besides the above-mentioned additions, version 1.1 of Babelingo includes professionally translated phrases in the Italian language, and a recommended update. If you like a specific language to be added to the app so you too can use its features, you are encouraged to contact Alta Vida so that the company knows what additional languages should be supported in future releases.

Currently supported languages include English, Spanish, Italian, French, German, Czech, Hindi and Japanese, Chinese (Simplified). Babelingo 1.1 for iPhone and iPod touch costs $5.99 USD. It is available via Apple's iTunes App Store.
