Britney Spears Loses Custody of Her Kids

It finally happened. And we're all in shock. But funnily enough (or maybe there's just too much irony in this) I don't think that all the shock surrounding Brit Brit losing custody of her kids is caused by the fact that...well, she just had her sons taken away from her, but by the fact that someone actually had the guts to do what should have been done a long time ago. And this time, there are no second guesses, no half measures, no second chances. Brit's custody privileges haven't been reduced - they have been revoked, and the kids are staying with K-Fed until further notice.

It's a long story, and it goes like this: Federline's attorney, that delightful Mark Vincent Kaplan appeared before the Los Angeles Superior Court yesterday (Monday) morning to discuss Brit Brit driving illegally - without a valid California drivers license, that is - while the kids were in the car with her over the weekend. For those of you who don't remember, this comes in direct violation of the judge's orders, that prohibited both Brit and K-Fed from driving the children unless they had a valid California driver's license.

I'm not sure if this had anything to do with Brit's (more than questionable) abilities as a mother - it probably didn't - but I suppose it was the final straw in Brit's law-defying spree. Either way, it proves the fact that Britney's attitude towards everything that has been going on in her life lately...wait, scratch that...Britney's continuous LACK of attitude and her failure to react and show some improvement finally worked. And judging by how Britney surrendered the kids to K-Fed's bodyguard smiling, two days ahead of the deadline set for him taking over full custody, I have a feeling she was not very sad to let them go, at least for a while.

I continue to believe that Britney is not fully aware of just how serious things are as far as the custody issues go. I imagine she's happy not to look after her boys for a while - she probably sees it as a free pass to having more time to hit the clubs and partying till dawn (not that having her babies around ever prevented her from doing that already) and not as some sort of catastrophe.

I mean, Britney already gets cut an impressive amount of slack - and the media would totally have gone the "grieving mother" way - but how can you think that Brit Brit is sorry for losing her kids judging by the way she's been behaving? She's either too high to care, in severe denial of the situation or simply delusional. Or maybe all those three mixed into one deranged young adult whose life is a constant media circus. Sad - but true.
